Vision & Values

St. Mary's Vision & Ethos

“If you have good fruit, you must have a healthy tree; if you have a poor tree, you will have bad fruit”

Matthew 12:33

At St Mary’s Church of England Primary School, we focus on the whole child and the development of their spiritual, moral, intellectual, and academic character. This interest in the whole child enables us to learn and grow so that we can become more fully what we were created to be.

Our school motto is simple, it is to ‘be the best version of ourselves’. It is through this motto that we deliver our education offer. We gently encourage the desired behaviours in every pupil, within an environment where they feel safe to take risks, to accept failure and strive to be better in their learning.

Values of Virtue at St. Mary’s Primary

Tolerance

Respect

Hope

Belonging

At St Mary’s we are tolerant of others – of their needs, values, and beliefs. We understand that we are all different and celebrate it.

Everything we do in life should be based on respect: respect for ourselves, respect for others, respect for the world in which we live.

We want all learners at St Mary’s to believe in the power of hope. To have hope is to have a direction. It helps us to never give up – whatever the obstacle ahead.

We may not be related, but we are a family. We belong to St Mary’s: in this community we look after one another because we belong together.

“Use your God-given gifts to serve others”

Peter 4:10

“Do to others what you want them to do to you”

Luke 6:31

“Give all your worries to God because he cares for you all!”

Peter 5:7

"They are no longer two but one. Therefore what God joins together, let no one separate”

Matthew 19:6

St. Mary’s values in action

Our values underpin all aspects of school life. They are to used to support and correct behaviour, in making decisions related to the future of our school and in furthering the personal development of all our pupils.
